After 32 years since it made its last full time appearance, the Ottawa Rough Riders single “R” look is coming back to Lansdowne when the REDBLACKS Kickoff their 10th anniversary season on Thursday June 13 vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

“Inspired by the classic Ottawa Rough Riders looks of the past, the new black jersey is a nod to the storied tradition of football in Ottawa, while bringing sleek modern elements to the REDBLACKS’ home uniform set. The shoulders now feature a bold, forward-facing white stripe with a red outline, and Ottawa’s revamped ‘R’ logo without the original saw blade background adorns the sides of the shoulders.”

The pants have been changed, removing the red stripe and going to an all black pant, and removed the “RNation” wordmark and will feature the new “R” logo on the right hip.

It also features on the REDBLACKS’ new helmets that may be familiar to fans; in the Rough Rider-inspired specialty helmets with a white stripe and red outline down the middle, similar to the ones that debuted for one night only in 2022, and also made appearances during the 2023 season. Building on the fan-favorite design, the new version of the retro-inspired helmet will be paired with the new home jersey, completing the iconic head-to-toe look.

The helmets don the French spelling of the team name Rouge Et Noir.

The “R” Helmets will only be worn with the Black uniform Set. The traditional Buzzsaw helmet will continue to be worn for the White “away” uniform and Red “Alternate” uniform sets.

“Continuing with this year’s 10th anniversary celebration, the front of the jersey also features a special 10th anniversary logo, on the right side just above the “REDBLACKS” team name bar, as well as that of TD Bank; founding partner of the REDBLACKS, celebrating 10 years of partnership with the team in 2024. “

The traditional sawed numbers will remain. Combining new and old of Ottawa Football history.

The shoulders will feature the new look “R” similar to the double RR that was worn during the 1993 and 1994 season.

The new Uniform will worn 6 times at home, the Red Alternate set will be worn 3 times.

The jerseys are available to purchase here and can be purchased with or without the 10th anniversary patch.
