Assiniboia Downs (ASD) has another seven-race card scheduled for Monday (July 1) evening and it kicks off at 7:35 p.m. CDT. The Jackpot Pick 5 wager starts in the third race and runs through to the end of the card while the $1 Pick 4 with a $50,000 guaranteed pool starts in the fourth race. The final two races will both feature a $1 Classic Hi-5 wager as well.
There will also be special Canada Day activities for the whole family as well as fireworks after the racing.
A free program and other helpful resources can be found here.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the track because you can watch ASD’s stream live here.
Longshot Watch
The biggest potential upset I like on Canada Day comes in the seventh and final race. Annakhozana opens at 8/1 morning line odds and will come from post six. The four-year-old filly has yet to win this year but has finished as high as third. However, none of her starts this year have been at seven furlongs and she had a pair of wins at a similar distance last year. Her previous race lines indicate she likes to close late and could easily do that again on Monday night. Trainer Shelley Brown has four wins so far this meet and could add another one in upset fashion. Antonio Whitehall sits third in wins among jockeys at ASD and has spent plenty of time riding Annakhozana. I think it would be wise to add her to any multi-leg wagers like the Pick 5 or the Pick 4.
