Tiger-Cats Reportedly Add Micah Johnson

As Free Agency nears, another name has reportedly agreed to terms with a new team, this time, it’s Micah Johnson and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats according to Farhan Lalji. The value of the contract is not yet known, but it will see Johnson in Hamilton for the 2022 season.

Johnson had a slow season with the Roughriders in 2021, especially by his standards. Through 12 games, he had 19 tackles and just two sacks. His numbers were down significantly since 2018 when he posted 14 sacks, an interception, and three forced fumbles to go with his 28 tackles in 14 games with the Calgary Stampeders.

A return to his 2018 form likely isn’t in the cards for Johnson at this point, but it doesn’t mean that he can’t have an impact on the Tiger-Cats defence this season. Even as he inches closer to the end of his playing days, he has the ability to make life difficult on the interior of the offensive line.

Along with Dylan Wynn, Johnson and the Tiger-Cats look to have one of the scarier interior defensive lines in the CFL. In 2021, the Tabbies struggled to put pressure on the quarterback at times, and while losing Ted Laurent and Ja’Gared Davis won’t help matters, Johnson will help make up for those losses.

Johnson can’t officially sign with the Tiger-Cats until Tuesday, but it shouldn’t take long for it to happen when Free Agency officially opens.
