Labour Day Weekend, Odds n Ends

Labour Day Weekend, Odds n Ends

Ottawa at Montreal

Despite whatever is going on in Montreal, the Alouettes are coming off both a bye-week and two important wins.

The Redblacks won their last outing as well.  And, that victory came on the road.

Do the Redblacks have a legitimate shot at winning back-to-back games?  Maybe, but I’m betting it won’t happen on Friday.

Visitors winning in Edmonton doesn’t really qualify as a momentum boost any more than a visitors’ win in Ottawa does right now.

The Alouettes don’t pay much on the money line but take the positive cash flow and go with Montreal to win.

Winnipeg at Saskatchewan

The Riders win over BC tells me that they are going to be ready to defend Mosaic for the traditional Labour Day weekend showdown, the first leg of the home-and-home on the prairies.

I think Saskatchewan has a real chance to win, but the few times I have bet against the Bombers have cost me.

I’m betting the over 44.5, which is the lowest target of the week.

These defences have made that low O/U reasonable but I think the offences will push it over this week.  In fact, we might even see 1+ majors posted by the Ds.

Toronto at Hamilton

It’s virtually a lock that Hamilton will be at peak performance for a raucous crowd at the Labour Day Classic in the steel city.

This is the 4th and final regular-season tilt between the East Division rivals for 2022.

Toronto leads the series 2-1 with a couple of wins at BMO.  Can the Double Blue win in the donut box?

I’m going to take the Boatmen on the money line (+100) and make this my Play of the Week. It should be close, I just think the Argos  are the better team right now.

Edmonton at Calgary

The Elks are not a very good football club at present.  The Stamps are very likely to win.

Still, I gotta believe the 12+-point spread is too much for the traditional Labour Day battle of Alberta.

I’m going with Edmonton to keep it close and take the points. I’m not looking for any upsets here, just a close game.
