It’s hard to think that around this time in a normal year we would be headed towards the middle of the CFL season, but here we are in this COVID-19 world talking about uniforms. This is entirely my opinion, so if you have your own thoughts, let us know!
9. Toronto Argonauts

Before the change over to New Era was made, the Argos had one of the best looks in the entire CFL. They somehow managed to ruin it in very short order. The stripes on the arms and the white numbers made the Adidas and Reebok jerseys come to life, and changing both of those things was the wrong choice for the Argos.
Towards the end of the season, things did get a little bit better when they changed the helmet logo to the throwback boat logo that I personally love.

I hope the Argos stick with this logo because it was the only redeeming quality about this otherwise boring and ugly uniform. Bring back the Adidas style jersey for the Argos, please!
8. Edmonton Football Team

When I first put this list together, Edmonton was higher on my list. The more that I look at this uniform the more I start to dislike it. The black that is in the numbers and in the logo has always annoyed me. It is something that I have always thought looked out of place and ruins the look of what is otherwise an okay looking uniform. The logo on the helmet is also pretty small, and I like logos on the helmet to be oversized much like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Ottawa Redblacks.
The stripes on the arm/shoulder are okay at best and I much preferred the look that had on the Reebok jersey as opposed to this one, but I don’t hate it. The Esks used to rock a green helmet on the white jersey. That is something that I would like to see make a return.
There is a struggle to break away from looking like the Green Bay Packers with the changes they made to their uniforms with the change to New Era in 2019, but the change wasn’t enough to make me stop thinking of the Packers. This is a classic looking uniform though, and I can’t say that I hate everything about it.
7. B.C. Lions

I actually don’t hate this uniform despite its ranking. New Era, at least in my opinion, has done a bang-up job with these uniforms. The helmet looks sharp on this uniform and is welcome after they experimented with the “pooh bear” logo with their Adidas uniforms.
These uniforms do look similar to the Adidas uniforms and that kind of freaks me out a little bit. The body of the uniform looks new but the shoulders look almost identical to the Adidas version. I also can’t decide if I like the orange pants or not. I think more black is needed on the pants, but the jersey and the helmet are so strong that I can’t complain too much about the pants.
The Lions white uniform is better in my eyes, and I might come back and do the white uniforms at a different time. Once again, these aren’t something that I hate, but there are certainly better uniforms in the CFL.
6. Montreal Alouettes

The Als have one of the most unique helmets in all of football. I can’t name a single team that puts the logo on the top of their helmet as the Als do. Some days I love that, and others I hate it. I also can’t decide if I like their old uniforms more or less than these. It was hard to rank these from here on out because you could make the case for them all to be number one.
The uniform is simplistic but screams Montreal. The blue and the red look really good together and the change couldn’t have come at a better time for this franchise. Last season we saw a new Montreal Alouettes team, and the new uniforms and look really helped that change.
I actually really liked the oversized “Montreal” that was on the old uniforms, so seeing the small word on the front on this one was disappointing for me. Other than that, the uniform is sharp and looks really good on the field.
5. Ottawa Redblacks

You can’t deny that the Redblacks look is sharp. The all-black look is something they have held onto since their inception in 2014 and is something that won’t ever go away for them. Boasting one of the more straightforward looks in the CFL, the Redblacks really don’t ever switch up the home look. Last season, they wore a combo of the black jersey with the white pants that I loved, but so many people hated. That is something I would love to see come back.

Overall, the Redblacks have done just about everything right with their uniforms ever since the switch to Adidas. I was really excited to see what the new red jersey they were going to introduce this season was going to look like, but it seems that is now going to be a look we don’t see until 2021. Luckily, the Redblacks have had the same look for six years now and I’m still not tired of it, so there’s that.
4. Calgary Stampeders

The Stamps are just a classic look that you can’t knock. The spoked numbers look fantastic and fit into the western theme the team has. Rugged, tough, and really friggin good. When you look at this uniform, you think of a powerhouse. The Stamps are good in just about every aspect of the game, and whoever designed these uniforms is also winning.
I only wish that they would have been allowed to keep the outlaw uniform together with the two coloured helmets with the chrome logo, but everything good dies eventually.
The Stamps just seem to represent Calgary so well. The colours work great together and they have that western feel as I mentioned earlier.
3. Hamilton Tiger-Cats

I’m not a Cats fan by any stretch of the imagination, but these uniforms are amazing. The colours go together so well, and the yellow really pops off the uniform without there being any white in the uniform.
The tiger on the helmet is large and pulls the whole thing together. I prefer the black pants look, but the gold pants also look really good, particularly during day games. This is one spot that the design team for the Cats did a great job. This was a candidate for the number one spot, but there are two uniforms that I think need to be higher.
2. Saskatchewan Roughriders

Classic, just classic. The Riders’ colours are so perfect together. The green and the white just go so perfectly together, especially since they got rid of the black that used to be in this uniform. People are going to hate that this is so high, but these are perfect uniforms.
Oversized logo on the helmet, two perfect colours, and it looks amazing in their brand new stadium. There is nothing I can fault them for with these ones.
1. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Sorry Riders fans. The Bombers have you beat here too. The Bombers are by far the best in the CFL in my opinion.
The tan pants, although weird, help to keep them easy to look at. The jersey itself is great with that giant ‘W’ on the arm, and the helmet looks great in gold with that massive ‘W’ on it again.
The Bombers made the right choice to ditch those terrible navy and gold uniforms they had earlier, and a gold away jersey is just about the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen, but these are perfect. They couldn’t have done a better job if they tried again.
Don’t hate me for my list, these are just my opinion. If you have your own list, be sure to let me know!
