The Canadian Elite Basketball League has published their schedule for the 2022 season, the fourth season of the league’s young history. It will feature 100 games across the league with each team playing 20 games, 10 home and 10 away. The schedule will also feature three new expansion franchises, the Newfoundland Growlers, the Montreal Alliance, and the Scarborough Shooting Stars as the league is now up to 10 teams.

The season will open with three games on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 with matchups featuring the Hamilton Honey Badgers hosting the Alliance, the Ottawa BlackJacks hosting the Fraser Valley Bandits, and the Saskatchewan Rattlers hosting the Niagara River Lions. The Shooting Stars will kick off their campaign on Thursday, May 26th, 2022 on the road against the Guelph Nighthawks while the Growlers will stay off the court until Friday, June 3rd, 2022 when they play their home opener against the defending champion Edmonton Stingers.

The CEBL’s regular season will come to a close on Monday, August 1st, 2022 with the final game being played at TD Place in Ottawa. The BlackJacks will host the Alliance in that contest.

This schedule is the largest the league has seen before and is a testament to how much the league has grown over the past couple of years. During a global pandemic that threatened to wipe the league off the map entirely, they somehow managed to turn it around entirely and get stronger.

This new schedule will also add another six games per team when compared to the 2021 schedule. This is, however, the same number of games that were played in 2019, but this time around, there will be less familiarity with the opposing team.
