The Victoria, BC Native is returning to his hometown team after being cut by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week after a disappointing pre-season outing. He went 3-13 for 37 yards against the Miami Dolphins.

Rourke joined the Jacksonville Jaguars in the winter of 2023 after putting 3,349 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions during the 2022 CFL campaign with the Lions.

Reported by Farhan Lalji reported the signing of a 3-year contract, keeping him with the Lions through the 2026 season, at $250,000 for the remainder of the 2024 season, $749,000 in 2025 and 809,000 in 2026. $200,000 a year is allocated for marketing which does not count towards the cap.

BC Lions owner Amar Doman is allowing Co-General Managers Neil McEvoy and Rick Campbel to swing for the fences with this signing. The Lions have lost three straight games dropping to 5-4. With the Lions hosting the 111th Grey Cup, this allows them to turn their season around and replicate the last Grey Cup home win in 2011.

Even though it will be talked about, Rick Campbell told reporters Tuesday August 13 that Vernon Adams Jr. Will not be traded and will remain with the team for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Rourke will report to the Lions on Wednesday August 14 and could start on Sunday Night August 18 when the Lions host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
